ConNeCT

Watch Dr Rebecca Shaw discuss ConNeCT

The ConNeCT Study: Neurological Complications of Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

THE CONNECT STUDY IS A MULTICENTRE, OBSERVATIONAL QUESTIONNAIRE-BASED STUDY DESIGNED TO IMPROVE OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE BURDEN OF NEUROLOIGCAL DISEASE IN TTP, COMPARED TO THE GENERAL POPULATION AND WILL HELP INFORM IMPROVED MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES.

The Royal Liverpool University hospital is the lead site, and the study is NIHR portfolio adopted. Patients (diagnosed with TTP at any time – i.e. acute and chronic) and healthy volunteers will be followed up 6-12 monthly prospectively. The ConNeCT study has had an extension to recruitment until August 2023, and we are still looking to open new sites.

This is a non-intensive but important study which has been developed in conjunction with TTP patients, reflecting their concerns and needs. The study is simple to take part in and can run alongside standard care with no extra visits required.

If your centre cares for TTP patients (acute presentations or clinic follow-up) and you are interested in getting involved, please contact North-West Mersey HaemSTAR representative Dr Becks Shaw (r.j.shaw@liverpool.ac.uk) for further information.
